In Pedemonte, San Pietro in Cariano, between 1500 and 1700 it was built several times and without being completely completed, the Villa Serego called Santa Sofia, in the name of the chapel dedicated to the saint and located just outside the noble walls, in south-east direction. In addition to Michele Sanmicheli, Andrea Palladio also worked on the project. Initially inhabited by the Serego-Alighieri counts, who owned the Gargagnago villa, it was later purchased by the Comapostrini counts.
The building is horseshoe-shaped on a central courtyard and rises on two floors; it is supported by imposing columns in yellow tuff drums. The vast park was downsized in the last century to make room for the expanding country, but it is still very large.
