Villa Nicheola is one of the most important renaissance villas of the Valpolicella area.
It was decorated with many frescoes, which extended from internal rooms to the garden and court’s external walls. These frescoes, realized by Paolo Farinati (1524-1606), are in large part destroyed today, in fact only the three groundfloor room’s decorations, which portray mythological scenes, trophies and pictures of gods, are still preserved.
The villa was built by Fabio Nichesola and became famous thanks his son Cesare, who collected a big number of tombstones andancientrelics, which are now largely conserved in Verona Lapidary Museum. Cesare also built a wonderful botanical garden around the villa with a lot of plants and exotic flowers, such as the botanical species "Cornus Nichesolae".
