This place already appeared in 1909 on a travel guide of Verona as a trattoria and residence, where it was possible to taste “homemade cuisine and chosen wines of Valpolicella” and to find an accommodation. Among the owners of this trattoria, the families Manni, Cambiaso and, for 25 years now, Barca must be remembered.
The rooms present a few authentic elements like the wood linings; wall paintings with floral decorations, on light-blue and sea green backgrounds, complete the walls up to ceiling. These paintings were realised by the Mantuan decorator Lazzari around the 1990s. On the back room two Berkel-like meat slicers of the ‘60s are proudly displayed.
The exteriors are characterised by two ribbed vaults. The wood showcases of recent manufacture have been decorated with gold leaf by Veronese master craftsman Piantavigna and show the theme of the wine grape. Remarkable is the historic flag-shaped sign in red and gold metal sheet, positioned at the entrance of the trattoria. This sign was bought in 1909 by the owners of the tavern and it reports the name MARCHETTI, together with the drawing of three coins.
In this tavern it is possible to taste dishes of the traditional cuisine and territory; the wine cart offers a wide range of choice with more than 1200 labels of local and national wines.
Interesting facts: the name of the trattoria is related to the toponym of the alley and it was quoted for the first time in some documents of 1600. Most likely “Tre Marchetti” refers to the coin used in Verona since the end of the fifteenth century.
Opening year: 1909
