Created thanks to the project of the architect Rinaldo Olivieri, the Camploy Theater combines in a very happy synthesis a nineteenth-century structure with the most daring experiences of modern architecture, combining functionality and elegance.
On the outside, the maximum possible recovery of the pre-existing structure is decided, while on the inside, with great expressive freedom, maximum attention is given to the quality of the space as the only architectural expression.
The composition is orchestrated on diagonals and asymmetries that dilate the real space allowing the user a staging that begins upon entering the theater foyer.
The auditorium is played on an enormous suspended shell whose shell rests only with slight contact with the old walls treated with a soft amber plaster which allows the connections between the old bricks to be read.
A sober minimalist white volume harmoniously in tune with the pre-existing structures, onto which some technological elements appear in singular contrast.
The coexistence of ancient and modern of the rectilinear walls with the dynamic and soft line of the shell and the dialectic of the materials is extraordinary: the porosity of the stones against the smoothness of the plaster shell, the roughness of the old walls against the shine of the marble floors .
