The statue represents Berto Barbarani (1872-1945), a famous poet who lived in Verona in the first half of the 20th century.
The bronze statue was executed by Novello Finotti, an important contemporary sculptor from Verona.
The work is located in the heart of the city centre, near piazza Erbe: the poet gazes upon the statue of Madonna Verona, the symbol of his beloved city. The sculpture is in good state of preservation and, due to its favourable location, undergoes greater attention than other statues.
