The monument is dedicated to the Veronese neo-romantic poet and patriot Aleardo Aleardi (Verona, 14th November 1812 - 17th July 1878).
The statue was erected in 1883 and it was created by the sculptor Ugo Zannoni (1836-1919). It portrays the poet holding a glove in his left hand, and one of his books in his other hand, which symbolizes his literary work and studies. The statue is ingood conditions, thanks to the recent restoration.
