The origins of this place are probably much more ancient and date back to 1420, when the restaurant Arche was an hostel.
Today the fifth generation of Gioco family has been reached; Mrs Silvia and her husband manage the activity, that is mainly dedicated to fish and its recipes.
The restaurant is composed by the kitchen and the lounge at the ground floor and an internal staircase, which leads to the holder’s private house.
The large dining room is characterised by the presence of a valuable nineteenth- century venetian floor, boiseries on the walls and some furniture of early 1900s.
The wrought iron banister has been realised by the Veronese artist Berto da Cogollo; its shape is very similar to the perimeter which encloses the so-called Arche Scaligere, namely the monumental cemetery of the old noble family of Verona, situated very close to the restaurant.
Restaurant Arche Scaligere is part of the Botteghe Storiche’s catalogue both for quality and seniority.
Interesting Facts: the restaurant is located within the portico of Romeo’s house. In the kitchen, embedded in the wall, there are traces of columns and vaults, which were originally part of the ancient portico of Montecchi’s house.
Opening year: 1877
