ATTENTION!!! The trails in the Ponte Tbetano area are currently not safe. The Alpine Rescue recommends avoiding it until a later date, indicating that the path is unusable as the bottom is dangerous, muddy and slippery.
WARNING!! We point out that the path n. 5 of the Tibetan Bridge and the paths nr. 3 and n. 4 of Valsorda are paths of very high difficulty only for expert hikers, they must be faced with extreme caution and attention (not suitable for children). It is necessary the use of high mountain boots with well-sculpted soles and comfortable clothing. The paths are absolutely not recommended in case of bad weather and in the days immediately following.
IMPORTANT: as recommended by the Veronese mountain rescue in Valsorda, the routes to and around the Tibetan bridge must be considered mountain paths, so they must be faced with the right equipment, awareness and preparation without leaving the marked trail. A prudent behavior is recommended. Given the particular morphology of the area, the Alpine Rescue also indicates that knowledge of the routes and departure at times appropriate to the length of the journey is essential.
The path n. 5, called "Tibetan path" is a circular path that, starting from Malga Biancari (m 592 s.l.m.) reaches the town of Mulino del Cao (m 308 s.l.m.) to return to the starting point after about 5.7 km. After 1.6 km, it is necessary to cross the Tibetan bridge which offers a spectacular view of the Val Sorda; it is a structure open to the public and therefore accessible at any time with free admission.
To reach the Malga by car or on foot, the route is simple: as soon as you pass the village of San Rocco di Marano di Valpolicella, on the left there are some traffic signs that lead to the Girotto area.
Here, in addition to the "malga", there is also a large parking area where you can start the walk through the beauties of Valpolicella and Lessinia.
The Tibetan bridge is a classic engineering work suspended by ropes between opposing spas, it connects the trail system of Marano di Valpolicella with Sant'Anna d'Alfaedo.
It has a maximum height on the underlying vajo of 40 meters and is 52 meters long with a width of 70 cm, the handrail at 120 cm, and allows the double journey of two people who cross. This work is supported by four ropes in turn formed by a catenary of four steel wires with a diameter of 22 millimeters each.
