The external space provides the first, immediate visual impact with its wooden tables of late 1800s placed under the beautiful arcade running along the right-hand side of the street, which comes from the Church of Sant’Anastasia.
The interior space consists of a single room with the winery counter a few wooden tables and the ceilings with exposed beams. The Venetian-style floor of polychrome flakes from the Nineteenth century refines the context. At the basement level, the cellars of bricks framed by a vaulted ceiling are still well preserved.
This place has been able to maintain the traditional canons of the tavern over time. Indeed, it serves wine only, or alternatively water, to its customers, while the glasses of wine are accompanied by horse meatballs, boiled eggs and chicken wings, besides the typical Veronese dishes.
Interesting facts: Osteria Sottoriva takes its name from the street where it is located, that is next to the bank of the river Adige.
The renowned Veronese poet Berto Barbarani, whose natal house was situated in proximity of via Sottoriva, is one of the artists who used to frequent this place in the past.
Opening year: 1739
