Testimony of a centuries-old history of popular devotion, the churches and places of worship of Valpolicella represent an opportunity to discover places of extreme beauty. The route is about 15 kilometers long and starts from Fumane where the Santuario della Madonna de Le Salette stands.
Then you go down to San Floriano, in the municipality of San Pietro in Cariano, to visit the precious 12th century Pieve Romanica. Its imposing tuff facade has remained substantially intact while the bell tower resumes the Veronese style of the time. Inside there are works of art such as the wooden sculpture depicting the "Madonna in adorazione del Figlio", the canvas of the "Madonna del Rosario", the baptismal font carved out of a single block of red marble.
Not far from San Pietro in Cariano you can visit the Pieve di San Giorgio di Valpolicella. It is one of the most interesting and oldest examples of Romanesque architecture found in the province of Verona. Of great value is an ancient ciborium that has writings that place it in the middle of the Lombard era.
Going up the valley of Marano you come to Valgatara, where there is the 13th century country Church of San Marco. The building has a simple facade in local Prun stone and a beautiful Romanesque bell tower. The single nave interior has preserved fourteenth-century frescoes. The last stop on the itinerary is Santa Maria Valverde in Marano di Valpolicella, in a suggestive and panoramic position.
