Right above the village of Brognoligo, ascending the steep road with the church on your right that leads from the square to Fittà, you shortly arrive right in front of this stunning and uncommon monument and symbol of faith: the 'Grotta', as it is known to everyone, dominates the village and the small valley bordered by the surrounding hills.
The 'Grotta', although smaller in size, is in every way a faithful reproduction of the original one, created by Frà Claudio Granzotto and completed in 1947 to fulfill a vow made to the Madonna by the citizens on February 11, 1944. It was designed by Frà Claudio Granzotto, who unfortunately never saw it finished, and in the parish church, it is possible to admire the manuscript that Frà Claudio left in the hands of the community to complete the work.
The grotto is enclosed all around, and in front, it hosts a small square with benches. To the left of the grotto, there is a small sacristy where the materials needed to celebrate Mass are kept, and there are also two water taps with the inscription “Go to the fountain to drink and wash yourselves,” dated 25/2/1858. Still on the left, there is the statue of Bernadette Soubirous kneeling in prayer facing the Madonna, and in the center, there is the marble altar adorned with flowers.
High up on the right inside the grotto is the statue of the Madonna bearing the inscription in French “je suis l'immaculate conception…,” while above it dominates a large cross that remains illuminated even at night. To the right of the altar, we find ex-voto pictures that thank the Madonna for the help received and the statue of Frà Claudio Granzotto.
