The Aurora Cinema is the Community Hall of the Parish of St. Joseph Spouse of B.V. Maria of Verona, located in Via Girolamo Fracastoro n. 17, Borgo Venezia.
The structure is owned by the Parish and managed by a parish committee of volunteers. Mainly a cinema hall, it is also available for conferences, theatre and musical performances and special events.
The history of the cinema begins in 1933 as the Parish Theatre of Borgo Venezia, desired by the parish priest Don Pietro Fritz. On October 20, 1935, with the film "Adorable", it began its history as a cinematographer, despite a turbulent start with a fire of the film. In 1950, work began on a radical transformation of the structure, requested by the parish priest don Emilio Claudio, in order to be able to expand the patronage and the hall. Completed in 1951, the hall, with a capacity of 615 seats (390 in the audience and 225 in the gallery), takes the current name "Cinema Aurora.". In 1963, the cineforum was introduced with post-screening debates. In 1985, it was closed for new safety regulations, but in 1988 the community decided to renovate it, and the new 333-seat hall opened its doors on October 19, 1991. The cinema resumed with film, theatre, musical and lecture performances. In 2015, a digital projector was installed.
