The Church of the Assumption (also known as Church of Discipline), located in Corso della Vittoria in Legnago, was designed by father Giuseppe Trecca and built by the Parish Board of Trustees. It was intended to replace the old Church of Discipline, which was demolished in 1899 (except for the bell tower) in order to widen the road leading to the new bridge of the river Adige.
The exterior of the building is a hut Neo-Gothic facade facing north. The interior of the building has a single rectangular hall plan with a raised-by-one-step square presbytery ending into a semicircular apse; along the walls of the hall, near the presbytery, two side semi-chapels contain the altar of St. Rocco (with St. Cristoforo and St. Sebastiano) on the left side and the altar of St. Luigi Gonzaga and St. Antonio from Padua on the opposite side. The inner walls, decorated with Neo-Gothic elements, are adorned with narrow cotto pilaster strips matching the top frame; tall and narrow lancet windows open in the facade and along the sides of the hall; the main carved, decorated and gilded wooden altar is placed in the apse and contains the altarpiece representing "Our Lady of Mercy", a fifteenth century work of Ranuccio Arvari.
The hall is covered by two crossed vaults, decorated with diagonal and transverse ribs; a narrow barrel vault closes the presbytery; the apse and side chapels are covered by a decorated-with-thin-ribs basin. The interior covering is made of a wooden and tile structure. The church is paved with octagonal tiles made of Verona red marble and white marble.
