The inhabitants of the village of Valdiporro, mainly of Cimbrian origin and German-speaking, had to rely on the parish church of Roverè for religious functions for a long time, until 1375, and subsequently on the church of Bosco Chiesanuova until the mid-16th century, when the first church of Valdiporro (dedicated to Saint Anthony the Abbot) was built. Construction, which began in 1549, was completed in 1576, and the church was erected as a parish the following year (1577). The vaults of the presbytery and the apse, decorated with a cycle of frescoes created in 1898 by the artist Pittaco, are of particular interest. The load-bearing structure is made of wood, while the floor uses slabs of 'rosso ammonitico' stone from Lessinia.
