The basilica, which was consecrated in 421, was for four centuries the burying site of Veronese Bishops. The crypt was built during the first half of the 10th century. The façade is made up of rows of soft stone and brick; a high tiburium rises above the cross of the central nave with the transept.
The interior is decorated with paintings of the 14th century masters (Giacomo da Riva and Martino) and Renaissance artists such as D. Brusasorzi, G.F. Caroto, P. Farinati e Battista Del Moro. The canvases in the chapel of the innocents are by Orbetto (1630).The two-storey apse has elements from the early Christian era and from the early Middle Ages.
The departure station of the funicular is very close to the Church of St. Stefano. The funicular allows you to reach the panoramic terrace of Castel S Pietro easily and in a suggestive way.
