Originally called S. Angelo in Monte, a church dating back to the 10th century, it was remodelled over the centuries and took the name of Santa Maria di Nazaret after the Crusades.
As similar with the Church in Nazareth of Galilee, Oratory of St. Gabriel the Archangel (some remains can now be found at Villa Wallner) and the Iron Fountain, ideally linked to the Source of the Virgin, were located near the Church.
The church stands on the hill, in a complex that was the summer residence of some Veronese bishops.
Today it is owned by the Opera San Giovanni Calabria.
