It was opened on 11 May 1969 by Mr Aldo Solomoni, who run the business until 2003, when he left it to his son Steve.
This place is famous for the coffee tasting: the shop both offers the coffee obtained from its own roasting process and a selection of coffees coming from different parts of the world. The indoor environment is restricted: the bar almost takes up the whole space and the rest of it is filled with a few tables for a small amount of people. The walls are decorated with a huge number of details of furniture, that, together with colourful cups, teapots and products on sale, create a warm and cozy environment.
The elements characterising the outside of the building have remained largely unchanged, except for the sign Tubino, which has been removed in 2006, as the shop could not keep the exclusive rights of the coffee brand Tubino. The window, the compass at the entrance, the wooden framed ceiling are all authentic from 1969, as well as the floor made of wooden slats and the bar, which has been slightly modified, since it is not used as a coffee container anymore.
Interesting facts: at Caffè Borsari it is possible to pay and taste the so-called suspended coffee: you have one coffee and pay for two. The second coffee is the suspended one and it is for those who cannot afford it or who are facing a particularly difficult day, under the keen eye of the bartender.
