Giacomo Matteotti (Fratta Polesine, 22th May 1885 – Roma, 10th June 1924) was a politician and a member of the Italian Parliament. He was a convinced anti-fascist, and for this reason he was killed on 10th June 1924, because earlier on 30th May, in a famous speech, he contested the general elections, and accused the Fascists of electoral fraud.
The monument is composed of a marble slab with a bronze bust. Matteotti holds a newspaper in his left hand as a sign of his involvement in the political life. The work was executed in 1948 by the sculptor Ruggero Dondè. The monument is in good conditions and it’s well valued, although it hasn’t got any artificial lighting.
