During the 1950s and 1960s the main activity was the transformation of military uniforms into civilian and work clothes. Currently the shop has a retail space, a back room and a small office. Among internal fittings, high-quality elements stand out, such as the original 1920s hardwood counter, a chair and a few wooden tables. To enter the retail space the customer passes through a toughened glass and iron hand-painted red door. It is a quite original object, due to its structure, shape and dimension.
The shop sign is a reproduction of the original one, made of iron and conserved in the shop. Inside, the original license of the Municipio di Verona is posted on a wall, reporting the date 3 August 1927.
Over the years, there have been three successive generations, and this is the reason why Basevi Jeans is in the Botteghe Storiche register both for quality and seniority.
Interesting facts: the current owner's father, Mr Umberto Basevi, discovered jeans thanks to his business trips to port cities such as Bari, Genoa and Livorno, where the American Army had its bases.
Opening year: 1924
