Pet friendly
The beautiful Verona can’t wait to welcome your four-legged friends!
Walking in the historic center and on the Lungadige is a pleasure that multiplies, if shared with your dogs.
In the city, there are also several dog areas, green spaces where you can let your pets run freely. Even in these areas, of course, as throughout the territory, there is an obligation to collect waste.
Where can we go with our furry friends, naturally kept on a leash?
- Courtyard and bridge of Castelvecchio
- Courtyard of Juliet's House
- Public green areas
- Garden Giusti (only in case of very large dogs is prohibited access inside the palace, although it is of course possible to visit the garden)
- Funicular (with muzzle) and viewpoint of Castel San Pietro
- Tourist Train
- Citysigthseeing (small and medium sized dogs, with leash and muzzle)
What about ATV buses?
- Small pets (including small dogs) can travel free of charge and must be held in arms or in the carrier
- Dogs (not of small size) can travel for a fee (passenger fare), provided with leash and muzzle
- Small animals kept in special cages or baskets can also be transported on seasonal lines with payment of the fare provided for passengers
- Guide dogs are transported free of charge
As for the main museums and monuments, from 1st January 2025, dogs can enter with their owner in the following sites of interest:
- Arena Amphitheatre
- Archaeological Museum and Roman Theatre
- Lapidary Museum
- Castelvecchio Museum
- Museum of Frescoes "G.B. Cavalcaselle" at the Tomb of Juliet

It is possible to access these monuments with small dogs only in special bags (transport cages). Dogs are not allowed in the case of ongoing guided tours; coffee breaks; in the case of special temporary exhibitions that require special maintenance; if female during the period of estrous and pregnant and in case of illness of the animal.
The Museum of Natural History can also be accessed with medium and large dogs on a leash and equipped with muzzle in the exhibition routes, subject to behavioral evaluation of the dog.
The Achille Forti Modern Art Gallery remains temporarily excluded from the initiative.
