The Speri family, if Amarone is the latest born of Valpolicella wines, is one of the oldest wineries to produce this wine: the first bottles date back to fifties. Speri produces a single Amarone, Amarone docg Classico Sant’Urbano.
Grapes are harvested exclusively by hand, and carefully graded to select only best bunches.
In the fruit shed grapes are still dried on traditional “arele” wooden and bamboo racks
The Speri family, in its effort to always achieve the best possible quality, does not produce Amarone during unfavorable vintages and only markets the wine when at least 12 months have elapsed after the date set by the production regulations.
Amarone is an extraordinary timeless wine. It really needs to wait in the bottle to best express its character.
The journey will start from the current year, 2018, to continue to discover its evolution with
Amarone Sant’Urbano 2012
Amarone Sant’Urbano 2008
Amarone Sant’Urbano 2005
