Giselle

Staged at the Nuovo Theatre, one of the most beloved ballets in the classical repertoire.

The new year in Verona is celebrated with elegance and harmony with the show Giselle, the classic romantic ballet par excellence, born from the fantasy of the great writer Théophile Gautier. The dancers of the Iasi Opera Theater will give the audience unique emotions, dancing to the music of A. Adam and with the choreography of Jean Coralli.

The ballet consists of two acts, imbued with lunar, romantic and sometimes enchanted atmospheres. The protagonist of this love story is Giselle and her passion for Albrecht. Two paradigmatic roles of the academic repertoire: the peasant Giselle who dies of love, and the lover Albrecht, the prince who plays with her sentiments and betrays her, and then redeems himself. Death and legend frame this magnificent ballet, embellished by the presence of the Willi, characters of the German folk tradition. The choreography and music are strong, they capture the audience until they move it.

The ballet Giselle first debuted in Paris in June 1841. The leading role was given to the Neapolitan dancer Carlotta Grisi; at her side Lucien Petipa as Prince Albrecht.
